Think of it this way: Your face produces fat and sweat, which is absorbed into your skin when you are on the phone.
If you do not remove that, during your next call you return it to your skin, along with any grown germs.
To clean it, follow the instructions from your phone maker. You could try earbuds or another hands-free headset. The pressure of holding your phone to your cheek may also trigger a rash that irritates your skin.
2. Placed Hair Products Closer To Your Hair
If you use an anti-frizz product, or a thick gel or pomade, apply it away from your forehead.
If not, you can get an acne line right there in your hairline.
3. You Stop Quickly
“Everyone wants clear skin yesterday, but we don’t have a silver coin that works quickly; treating acne takes weeks to start kicking,” said dermatologist Joshua Zeichner, MD, of Sinai Hospital in New York. He specializes in treating acne.
If over-the-counter acne products do not help within two to four weeks, you may need to see a dermatologist. This is especially important if you have acne cysts or if your acne leaves scars.
4. You Wash Your Face Very Well
“One of the biggest myths is: ‘My face is dirty, that’s why I get acne,'” says dermatologist Whitney Bowe, MD, of Advanced Dermatology P.C. Westchester, N.Y.
“Excessive washing can loosen the skin of essential oils, which can lead to excess fat, which can lead to acne,” Zeichner said.
Bathing twice a day is what you need.
5. You Make Mistakes When You Wash Your Face
Do not use a dirty or wet washcloth when bathing. Bacteria can form easily on it. Always use a clean washcloth.
Also, do not overdo it. Products with sand or sugar, ugly scrub pads or loofahs, and even electric brushes can cause small tears in the skin when used daily. The result is irritability and inflammation.
That can make treating acne very difficult. Exfoliate only once or twice a week, Zeichner says.
6. You Use Zit Cream Too Much
“Extra cream is by no means the best. In fact, [some] ingredients may be very irritating to the skin,” Zeichner said.
You may need less than you think. “One amount the size of a green pea is all you need to cover your face.”
7. Selecting and Appearing Acne
It is understandable to want to get rid of acne ASAP. But this particular attack can cause serious problems.
“Instead of removing the barrier, pushing it down, and that can lead to scarring,” Zeichner said.
8. Eat More Sweets and Starchy Foods
“When mom tells you not to use those things, she probably does something,” Zeichner said.
No diet has been shown to cause acne. But sugary, processed like white bread, white pasta, potato chips, cakes, and pastries may be associated with acne, says Boe, who has researched this. There is nothing wrong with cutting down on sugary foods.
