Zymar Eye Ointment is an antibiotic, used in the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye. It relieves the symptoms of the infection by stopping the further growth of the causative microorganisms.
Zymar Eye Ointment is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off extra liquid. Avoid skipping any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
It may cause burning sensation in the eyes immediately following application. However, these side effects are temporary and usually subside on their own. Inform your doctor if they persist for a longer duration. It may cause short term blurring of vision when first used. Use caution before driving or using machines. Do not wear contact lenses while using it.
Zymar Eye Ointment 5 gm belongs to the group of medicines called fluoroquinolone antibiotics used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis. It kills bacteria (bactericidal action) by preventing the synthesis of enzymes, namely DNA gyrase and Topoisomerase IV, which is essential for the growth and survival of the bacterial cell. Eye has a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity against aerobic gram-positive and aerobic gram-negative bacteria. it has a very low level of bacterial resistance compared to other antibiotics.
Directions for Use
Zymar Eye Ointment 5 gm is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands before and after use. Shake the bottle well before each use. Instil the eye drops by pulling down the lower eyelid to form a pocket between eyelid and eye. Do not touch the tip of the dropper as it may contaminate the solution. Depending on your condition, your doctor will decide how long you need to use Zymar Eye Ointment 5 gm.
